The Cervical Cancer Coalition of Tennessee is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and disease prevention by informing the public in the state of Tennessee about HPV and cervical cancer. CCCT is a statewide organization located in Nashville, comprised of representatives of the community at large.
Our Vision Statment: CCCT uniquely strengthens the State of Tennessee from a survivor’s perspective coupled with an unbiased authority on issues and resources concerning HPV and cervical cancer for the continued health of all women.
Mission Statement: We strive to promote education and disease prevention by informing the public in the state of Tennessee about HPV and cervical cancer.
Additionally, CCCT strives to address women’s cultural, emotional and practical needs and concerns with regard to screening, treatment and follow up. It educates women on the risk factors for HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and cervical cancer and stresses the critical need to ALL women for regular screening to ensure early diagnosis and treatment.
Founded by Navita Gunter, herself a cervical cancer survivor, CCCT has been educating women to take charge of their health and to be strong advocates for cancer awareness since 2001. Ms. Gunter uses her personal battle with cancer to educate women to be survivors by early detection.
CCCT has many ways of reaching out to the community, including major cancer walks and events, health initiatives, cancer awareness seminars, public speaking engagements, survivor celebrations promoting women health, direct personal contact and one-on-one counseling, group health education, community meetings, posters and pamphlets, public service announcements and advertisements, working with key community leaders and health care providers.
CCCT is involved with several cancer-related organizations, including The Witness Project, Project Crowning Glory, Education Network to Advance Cancer Clinical Trials, Community Advocacy Board, and Tennessee Cancer Coalition.
